Handmade 17" x 7-1/2" Rosewood Marudai for Kumihimo

Up for auction today is a Handmade 17″ x 7-1/2″ Rosewood Marudai for Kumihimo in New condition. Used in the traditional practice of Kumihimo, the Marudai is an indispensable piece of equipment. But there is no reason to deny yourself something beautiful to look at while you braid. These Marudai are in fact nice enough to display when not in use. Each is hand made from selected pieces of wood, sanded to a silky smoothness and hand rubbed with an aromatic beeswax finish.

This finish is all natural and should provide years of service. Should you at any time, for any reason feel that you need a new finish contact us and we will be happy to send you a small container of our custom made finish of your own at a nominal fee.

Kumihimo braids vary in difficulty; however, most can be accomplished with the right tools and instructions at hand. There are generally three difficulty levels: K1 (beginner), K2 (intermediate) and K3 (expert). There are a number of ways to begin kumihimo braiding. Starting with simple K1 patterns, it’s relatively easy to pick up. We recommend Hand-dyed silk and high-end beads to produce the best results for your braids.
